Whats the directive concerning video surveillance?

have an issue at work concerning someone making really awful racist remarks. he's a nasty piece of work, arrogant, bully, but nouns think the sun shines out of his butt, so I was thinking around filming said person and anonymously presenting a copy to direction. basically would I be breaking the law ?
Answers:
It depends on your state.

In Maryland for example, one CAN video video anyone in almost any place, but the secret or unadvertised video recording of AUDIO is actually a violation of "wiretapping" law.
Each state has its own laws concerning video tape without permission. Additionally, even if such tape is legal in the state, respectively employer has its own rules about tape on work premises, so it is possible that one could be OK with state law but be fired for tape if such taping violates work place rules.
